School Management Support (SMS)

The school has to be viewed as a social organization, organically linked to the community. The community must have an effective say in the management of the school. We believe that the involvement of parents in school management is a very effective means to improve the quality of the education, as parents have a strong stake in the quality of service provided to their own children.

Parent-Teacher Meetings

Mondo Challenge Kalimpong every year organises parent-teacher meetings in all of our partner schools, providing a platform for parents and teachers to come forward with feedback regarding children's education.

The aim of parent-teacher meetings are: to facilitate the parents' understanding of their role and responsibilities associated with their children’s education, of their children's needs, and of the importance of involving children in social activities and cooperating with the school management; to provide an opportunity for parents to give their feedback directly to the headmaster, other managing members and MCK pertaining to the school's education quality and other matters, and; to build a good relationship between parents and teachers.

School Management Committee

The Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 (RTE Act) mandates the formation of School Management Committees in every government-funded schools. Although our partner schools are private schools, given that all of the schools play a role as a social organisation providing very needed quality education to children in rural and marginalised communities, thus we strive to establish a School Management Committee (SMC) in each of our partner schools to encourage community and particularly parents' participation in the management of the schools.
