Education Grants

As the schools we support are generally based in rural villages, families are often scratching a living through small scale farming or working on the quinine plantations. Those schools we support near Darjeeling or Kalimpong towns focus their pupil intake on needy parents whose income is very limited.

Against such a background, Mondo Challenge Kalimpong indirectly supports these children of poor and deprived families through provision of education grants to our partner schools. Each school utilises the education grants in such areas as supplementing teacher salaries, covering some additional costs like exam fees and building maintenance, thus keeping all fees as low as possible and providing tuition fee subsidy to the poorest children.

School in a Bag (SIAB)

We provide children of our partner schools with a school bag filled with stationery items, a tiffin box, water bottle, pencil bag etc. This Project is particularly beneficial for those children whose parents cannot afford the basic requirements of a student. The bags also encourage many students who might not attend school to do so, thus increasing their school attendance.
