Mondo Challenge Kalimpong supports marginalised children and youth by providing opportunities for them to participate and succeed in various sports activities, especially running.

 

Through the "Run with Roshni" project, we support poor young runners in Darjeeling to run in national and international marathons.

About Run with Roshni Project

Project "Run with Roshni" is started by Roshni Rai, a Gorkha girl from a village known as Pedong in the sub-division of Kalimpong, Dist, Darjeeling.

 

Marathon running is Roshni’s hobby and she has run several marathons including four international marathons viz. Prague International Marathon 2010, Comrades Marathon 2012 (89km) in South Africa and Maidenhead Half marathon 2013 in UK and Run to the Beat 2014, 10km race in London. The Comrades Marathon at 89km is the longest distance Roshni has run.

 

In 2012, Roshni started a project called "Run with Roshni" and so far she has supported more than 25 runners from Darjeeling to run in the six following marathons:

 

  • Mumbai Marahton in January 2012

  • Mumbai Marahton in January 2013

  • Hyderabad Marahton in August 2013

  • Chennai Marahton in December 2013

  • Mumbai Marahton in January 2014

  • Hydearbad Marahton in August 2014 

 

MISSION

  • To support strong runners from poor backgrounds in Darjeeling to run national and international marathons.

  • To make India proud of winning International and Olympic Marathons by the runners from Darjeeling.

  • To let the world know who the Gorkhas are by getting media mentions through running and winning marathons

 

CURRENT OBJECTIVES

  • To support runners in the International marathon in Mumbai.

  • To support runners in National Marathons in Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi.

  • To pledge sponsors to support the strongest runners from Darjeeling to run International marathons outside India. ​
